Chembur – The Next Restaurant Hub
by Priyam Thakkar
Mumbai! The city of dreams is the Economic and Tourist hub of India. It’s full of dreamers and hard-labourers, starlets and gangsters, stray dogs and exotic birds, artists and servants, fisherfolk and crorepatis (millionaires), and lots and lots of people. But what is everyone’s favourite thing about Mumbai? Food!
Mumbai has all types of food places where you can find food dishes from all around the world but there are certain places in Mumbai have come to be known as restaurant hubs. These areas are Colaba, Lower Parel, Bandra and Andheri that have some of the oldest and classiest restaurants in Mumbai.
But wait, there is one more place that is coming up with some classic fine dines and restaurants. Chembur !
Yepp, you heard right. There are a lot of new places opened in Chembur in the span of 2 years. More than 75 fine dines, restaurants, pubs and hookah parlours have opened in this time. But the question rises is that can these places compete with some of the top-notch places in Mumbai?
The answer is a big ‘Yes’ because most of these places are highly innovative and have their own specialities. While I’ve visited most of these places and the food and ambiance at most of the places is top-notch, these 3 places stand out above all the others.
Legendz by Lazeez:
Owned by the owners of Lazeez which is already famous for their sheeshas in Bandra, obviously making Legendz one of the best place for sheeshas in Chembur. Along with the classic minty and fruity flavors this place also serves Fruit sheeshas ! Yes, sheeshas made out of actual fruits. Along with the uniqueness these sheeshas also have amazing new flavors. This place not only masters in sheeshas but also serves of one of the most delectable chicken dishes. All their chicken dishes are marinated perfectly and then cooked making the chicken tender and super-tasty.
So, if you planning to visit this place then try the ‘Mixed fruit sheesha’. As far as food is concerned, Malai Murgh Tikka are a must try.
Located in the Sindhi colony of Chembur, Singh Saab has Punjabi vibes right from its decor to the names of their dishes and their flavours. The most amazing thing about this place are the names of their dishes and drinks on the menu.
The names go like ‘Burrraahhhh!!!’ , ‘Desi Tharra’ , ‘Bholi Panjaban’ , ‘Singh Saab Di Talwar’ and many more. Along with ‘desi’ names, the flavours in their starters, subzis, biryanis and desserts have that ‘desiness’ too which makes them unique when compared to most of the fine dines out there.
So if you are planning to go on a Mini Punjab dinner trip to this place then make sure you do try these dishes:
-Garlic Mushroom Multani
-Methi Mutter and Malai
-Rose Petal Phirni
Flip Bar and Kitchen
The entrees served at Flip are one of the most luscious and appetizing food dishes I have ever eaten and that’s why it is one of the best places in Mumbai. This 6 month year old place has its menu consulted by one of the most genius chef consultants Chef Saif. Besides having some amazing and unique nachos, appetizers and milk shakes; the entrees will definitely steal your heart. They have a continental menu for main course that consists of classic dishes from all over the world. All these dishes consist of a piece of steak, rice, salad and a sauce on the side that makes it a perfect meal.
So if you are planning to visit this place, these dishes are one of the best dishes I’ve ever had:
-House Special Nachos
-Red velvet shake
